Madrid is set to welcome a spectacular new home for musicals.
Stage Entertainment has announced a transformation of the former IMAX cinema at Méndez Álvaro into the Stage Gran Teatro Musical, opening in October 2027.
The new venue will feature 1,550 seats and preserve the iconic IMAX dome, redesigned to meet the demands of large-scale musical productions. “That unique geometry will remain,” says architect Enrique González de la Hoz, “but with a completely modernized infrastructure and state-of-the-art technology.”
Located in Parque Enrique Tierno Galván, the new theatre will complement Stage Entertainment’s two existing Madrid venues — the Teatro Coliseum and Teatro Lope de Vega — further positioning the city as a major European hub for musical theatre.
