Disney FROZEN An Inclusive Performance at AFAS Circustheater
At AFAS Circustheater Scheveningen, we recently hosted a special Relaxed Performance of Disney FROZEN, designed for individuals with disabilities, neurodivergent audiences, and those sensitive to light and sound. With dimmed lights and a gentler atmosphere, the show ensured an inclusive experience for all.
A particularly touching moment was when a young boy, who cannot attend regular performances, finally got to see his sister shine on stage as young Anna. To make the experience even more comfortable, the actors playing villains introduced themselves before the show, reassuring children that they weren’t truly scary.
We are proud to create a space where everyone can enjoy the magic of theater! 💙
Behind the Magic: Disney FROZEN’s Education Program
Stage Entertainment Netherlands has launched a new education program for schools around Disney FROZEN at the AFAS Circustheater Scheveningen.
In a 40-minute session before the show, students get a behind-the-scenes look at the many creative and technical roles that make a large musical possible — from lighting and sound to costumes and make-up.
Presented by cast members and crew, the program highlights teamwork, career paths, and the wide range of skills that bring theatre to life. As one participant put it:
“I never realized how many people and talents are needed backstage — it opened my eyes to new possibilities.”
By showcasing these often invisible disciplines, the program inspires young people and underlines the diversity of careers in the cultural sector.
Education 1500 schoolchildren at Disney FROZEN
Last week, 1,500 primary schoolchildren visited the AFAS Circustheater in Scheveningen to see Disney FROZEN. For many, it was their first theater experience, which made it extra special!
This initiative is part of an education program that consists of three parts: a special Frozen-themed class where children learn about themes such as friendship and self-love, a music class featuring songs from the show, and, of course, the visit to Disney FROZEN.
This wonderful initiative is a collaboration between Stage Entertainment Nederland, ABN AMRO Foundation , Stichting Méér Muziek in de Klas, Jeugdeducatiefonds, and Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur.
After the education program, the involved parties will consider whether Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur can facilitate follow-up lessons for certain children, so they can further develop their talent!
